Patrouille des casse-noisettes

This was my first Winnie’s Picks paint by number. The paint by numbers was simple enough, although a couple areas were lacking numbers so I had to guess what colour to add based on the image on the box. Some paints glided better than others. Some paints were opaque which was great, but others were translucent and provided minimal coverage. With these colours, there wasn’t enough paint included in the kit to do two coats. The proportion of paint was also off. I ran out of both shades of red and had a pot and a half left of the blue. My biggest disappointment was with the paint colours. I was expecting the final painting to look much more like the box, with darker colours and more contrast but the colours of the nutcrackers are brighter and the background is very light. There’s no contrast between the nutcracker’s hair and the background. With a minor tweak to paint proportions and colours included in the kit, this has the potential of being a winner. This just missed the mark for me.
