« Iris » est un tableau emblématique d’une période noire pour Vincent van Gogh, alors résident d’un asile. Pendant son isolement, il a longtemps pu observer la nature dont ces iris bleus. Leur disposition semble d’ailleurs représenter la folie. Ce tableau a certainement plus de significations qu’il ne semble le supposer à première vue. L’unique iris blanc se tenant au milieu du bouquet de fleurs bleutées représenterait-il la solitude ? La technique audacieuse et non conventionnelle pour son époque met en évidence un jeu de lumière, grâce aux petites touches jaunes et aux contours marqués des formes. Van Gogh utilise un dégradé de bleu et de violet qui donne vie aux pétales. Une œuvre nuancée qui vous invite à suivre les courbes du pinceau d’un maître de l’impressionnisme.

My sister bought this painting, but lost heart at the complexity, so I painted it for her. Advanced is an understatement. It took me over a year to complete. The printing on the canvas was very blurry in a lot of places due to double printing, which increased the level of difficulty, especially with generally very tiny spaces. I referred to the paper guide often, as well as the photo. I'll be looking for an easier project next time. LOL

Attached is my just completed van Gogh irises painting.
Wow! What a challenge...and I loved it. My first paint by numbers...I'm hooked. I first started this back in May, this year, on vacation in the Outer Banks of NC when we were "sequestered" to our beach home as we rode out a NorEaster...4-5 days of 30-40mph winds...temps in low 40's... sandstorm any time you opened the door....that is when I started my paint by numbers hobby.
I had no idea I'd get into it. I did.
And this is my newfound hobby. And I can't wait to frame this and hang it in our house. I'm a big van Gogh fan. I've seen this original Irises painting. Doing this painting really kinda connected me with van Gogh's style...and I didn't cut my ear off when I finished!!

My first paint by number, how fun! I enjoyed every minute of it. Look forward to doing more in the future.
I loved creating this piece. It was very detailed and taking pictures with my phone of areas that I couldn't read allowed me to enlarge it and read it easily.
